About the square footage calculator
Square footage is simply the area of a space, measured in square feet, and for any room shaped like a rectangle it's found with one formula: length multiplied by width. Measure the two walls that meet at a corner, multiply the numbers together, and the result is your area — no need for anything more complicated for a typical bedroom, living room, or office.
This calculator accepts measurements in either feet or meters, since flooring, paint, and furniture are sometimes sold by the square foot and sometimes by the square meter depending on where you're shopping. Rather than making you convert by hand, it calculates the area once and displays it in both units side by side, using the exact conversion factor of 1 square foot = 0.09290304 square meters.
